About the Priest Valley VicarsThe Vicars are always looking for enthusiastic women and men to join our over 38’s rugby club as either players or supporters. We are based out of Kelowna, but we have members from throughout the Okanagan Valley, as well as other interior BC regions like the Kootenays and the Nicola Valley.
We are a member of the Cascadia Masters Rugby Union, also known as CMRU (formerly known as the Pacific Northwest Over 40's Rugby Union or PANORU). We play matches on Saturday or Sunday from September through early November, and then have more games between March and mid May. Our home games are played at the Parkinson Recreation Centre in Kelowna, and our season is usually composed of a manageable ten games a year. We practice every Wednesday throughout the year, except when there is snow on the ground. On those days we just go straight to the Clubhouse for a few beverages. Players 38 years and older are welcome on the field. Match rules are variously modified to keep it fun for all, and altered contact rules are strictly enforced to accommodate those 60 years of age and older. If you have played and enjoyed the sport at any time in your life, or would just like to give it a try now, come and join in on the fun. Contact us to find the exact practice times as they vary somewhat during the year, although they typically are from 6 pm - 7 pm. Practices are always on Wednesday Nights. Tales of past heroics generally begin at 7:00 pm Wednesdays at the Clubhouse near the Parkinson Rec Centre. Please come down and join us. You are always welcome. |
